The mobile app development prospective and cost’s are of a different approach, when compared to traditional application development like the desktop or the website apps. Mobile app development can be split into 3 categories. B2C(Business to Customers), B2B(Business to Business), I2C(Individuals to Customers). I think, the 90% leads generated to the developers are generated from Individual’s(I2C), who aim/desire/ambition to do some app on own, but most of them lack the basic skills like planning, programming & investing etc..
Traditionally, they think, it can be developed just like developing a low-end website. Most of them have a fixed budget in mind like 1000~2000 USD. The other serious problem on such are asking for multi-porting option. App releases for multiple OS. In my presumption most of such leads never even go the single OS delivery. I suggest take one step at a time.
Knowledge is money, I tell/suggest developers, if you have knowledge/skill, create a group of developers as a team, try to make money by doing some own concepts and publish own apps. The apple distribution platform is so efficient, one successful concept can get you millions over the night. As a developer and outsourcing support company, try to focus on B2B or B2C apps, apps required by the corporate companies, who target their business partners or customers. But, to address such corporate leads, individual developers/freelancers are not suitable/eligible to do, full fledged development company with good back end support team is a basic eligibility.
Otherwise, as a developer, there is no point in entertaining projects less than 4000 USD, irrespective of hours involved. Where we even tell from the basic, what is frameworks, what is API, how to establish store accounts, how to set bank account etc….publish apps, see sales trends etc…. 🙁
Knowledge is money, App store platform is a medium. If you have knowledge, use the medium. try to make own dollars. Good luck.
